6. COPY, CUT, PASTE

These operations allow you to copy or move information between different applications or within the same application. They use the clipboard (much like that on a computer) to temporarily store the information. Cutting will delete the information; copying will leave the information so that it can be pasted in another location.

Before we look at some examples, it may be necessary for you to clear the value of any variables. Otherwise you may not get a proper answer. There are two ways to clear the value of a variable. You can clear all variables a - z at once, or you can delete just designated variables. Both methods are shown below.

Go to F6 by entering .
Press .
Press again to clear the values.
Go to CATALOG and scroll to
DelVar. Enter the name of the
variable(s) you wish to delete.

Example: Factor the expression . Then copy it and paste it in order to expand the expression .

Press and scroll down to 2,
or enter the number 2.

Type in the expression
and press .

Highlight the expression by
moving the left cursor while
holding down the key.
Move the cursor to select the expression.

Press and select 5:Copy.
Press and select
3:expand(.
Press to paste the expression.
Type in , and press
.
The arrows indicate that there is
more of the expression
than is shown on the screen.
Use the up cursor to move to the
home screen.
Use the right cursor to scroll over.

You can use the PASTE operation as many times as you like. The expression on the clipboard will remain the same until you copy and paste or cut and paste another expression. The expression can be pasted into the graph menu.

You can use the CUT operation the same way as COPY. Using CUT is not the same as deleting an expression. When you delete an expression you cannot retrieve it.
